When Dhorittee and Robin reached out to me about their engagement photoshoot, I knew we were in for something special. They had a very specific vibe in mind for their photos, and they knew that the Stockton sand dunes would be the perfect backdrop for their dreamy and romantic shoot.

Located in Port Stephens, just a few hours north of Sydney, the sand dunes are truly a wonder to behold. These massive dunes stretch for miles and miles, and the way the light plays off the sand at different times of day is truly something special. For Tee and Robin’s shoot, we decided to go an hour before sunset to catch golden hour, when the light is soft and warm and everything takes on a magical glow.

As we made our way out onto the dunes, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of awe and wonder. The sand stretched out in all directions, with no end in sight. It was like being in the middle of a vast, otherworldly landscape, and I knew that we were going to get some truly amazing shots.

Tee and Robin’s excitement and happiness was contagious as we started the shoot. They were so clearly in love, and they laughed and joked with each other throughout the entire session. It was like watching two people who were absolutely meant to be together, and it was an honour to be able to capture that love on camera.

One of the things I love most about the sand dunes is the way they create a sense of intimacy and privacy, even in the middle of a public place. As we wandered further into the dunes, we found little pockets of space where Tee and Robin could be alone together, surrounded only by the sand and the sky. It was like they were in their own little world, and it made for some truly magical moments.

Of course, the sand dunes can also be a bit of a challenge to work with from a photographic standpoint (and a burning thigh workout). The light can be harsh and unforgiving, and it’s easy to get lost in the vastness of the landscape. But those challenges are all part of the fun. I love working with natural light and finding ways to create stunning images in even the most challenging environments.

For Tee and Robin’s shoot, we played with the light in a number of ways. We used the shifting shadows of the dunes to create depth and texture in the photos, and we also took advantage of the way the light changed as the sun sank lower in the sky. By the time we were wrapping up the shoot, the light was bouncing off the clouds and the effect was absolutely breathtaking.

As I looked through the images from the day, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of joy and wonder. Tee and Robin’s love was so evident in every shot, and the sand dunes had provided the perfect backdrop for their dreamy, romantic engagement shoot. It was a day I’ll never forget, and I feel so lucky to have been a part of it.

In the end, I think what makes the Stockton sand dunes such a perfect location for engagement photos is the way they inspire a sense of adventure and romance. There’s something about the vastness of the landscape that makes you feel like anything is possible, and that’s the perfect mindset for capturing the excitement and joy of a couple in love. I’m so grateful to have had the opportunity to work with Tee and Robin in this incredible location, and I can’t wait to see where their love story takes them next.
